San Sebastian!!

After slight confusion with the trains, we arrived in the AMAZING town of San Sebastian.

After going for a quick bit of sightseeing and having a small siesta, we joined the manager Leo, and some travellers to watch the Barcelona vs Madrid game in a sports bar. Apparently we were barracking for Barcelona (thank god they won!). We had their ‘cider’ which basically tasted of olives and poured from a huge height, then did the Spanish thing and continued with the free Sambuca shots, mojitos (YUM!) and white wine to follow. Then came the Spanish dancing and two for one beers (Carlsberg), which was very very funny at the time (not so much the next day!).

After a recovery day where I fell asleep on the beach and got a serious slice of bum burnt (thanks for waking me Kim!), we got up early the following morning, packed our lunch and headed off hiking. We went up a hill with a Jesus statue on it, then hiked around the biggest beach and up another mountain called ‘Monte Igueldo Mendia’.

We were pretty wrecked after that! So we recovered with Tiramisu gelato! We also went ‘surfing’ with Leo (I was better at skateboarding)....

and by surfing I mean getting smashed by waves and attempting to prevent the board from decapitating me! I lasted about 20 minutes and Kimmie stayed for 2 hours! Great feat.

On our last night we went to the best tapas bar EVER!!! I had pistachio risotto ball, some kind of meat skewer and Kimmie had black rice and goats cheese risotto and sirloin steak, quail egg and cabbage!

I would suggest San Sebastian to anyone who is heading to Spain. It is incredible for either a couple of days or even a week!
